The Bonny Inn
Tucked away along Ribchester Road in Blackburn, The Bonny Inn offers the kind of countryside dining experience that manages to feel both traditional and refreshingly elevated. Whether you're just popping in for a pint or planning a relaxed lunch with friends, this place knows how to make you feel welcome from the first step through the door.
Set in a charming, rustic building, the ambiance hits that sweet spot between cozy and refined. There's a roaring fireplace crackling away during chillier evenings, while the spacious outdoor seating is perfect when the sun decides to show up. The setup is wheelchair accessible from car park to restroom, so everyone’s taken care of. And let’s talk about the vibe-it's unpretentious, friendly, and perfect for both solo diners and groups looking to unwind over good food and even better drinks.
Speaking of drinks, The Bonny Inn has a stellar beer selection. Whether you're into a crisp IPA, a smooth Guinness Draught, or something local and crafty, there’s no shortage of options. There’s also an impressive wine list for those craving a glass of Shiraz or something to pair with mains. And yes, the coffee and tea selection here goes beyond the basics-great for a mid-day recharge or a slow end to your meal.
Now onto the menu, where things really shine. This isn’t your average pub grub. One standout has to be the Lancashire Cheese Soufflé-light, fluffy, and rich in flavor, it’s an opening act that sets a high bar. The Goats Cheese Tart also deserves a mention, especially for those who love that balance of creamy and tangy. And if you’re diving into mains, the Sirloin Steak delivers that perfect sear and tenderness, while the Lamb Rump with Dauphinoise Potatoes is pure comfort food elegance. The meat is beautifully cooked, and the potatoes? Creamy, garlicky heaven.
If you’re after seafood, the Fish Pie of the Day rotates often but rarely disappoints, and the Octopus, when available, brings a tender, perfectly grilled bite that’s surprisingly refined for a country inn. For a more classic craving, you won’t go wrong with the Fish and Chips-crisp, golden, and served with a side of nostalgia. The Burger is another reliable favorite: juicy patty, fresh bun, and just enough sauce to make it interesting.
Vegetarian? The Gnocchi here is pillowy and satisfying, often served with seasonal veg and a sauce that actually respects the ingredient. For something lighter, the Duck Salad has that sweet-savory contrast that keeps you picking at the plate long after you said you were done.
Dessert is where The Bonny Inn proves it's not playing around. The Baked Alaska is a showstopper-torched to perfection with that soft meringue crust giving way to ice cream and sponge below. If you're in a more festive mood, especially around the holidays, the Christmas Pudding or the Christmas Turkey Dinner hits all the right notes, complete with all the traditional trimmings. And if you’re into pairings, don't forget a glass of G&T or cider to round it all out.
Service here tends to be warm and attentive, with staff who actually seem to enjoy what they do. They know the menu, they’ll recommend a good pint if you ask, and they won’t hover. It’s that kind of place where you’re given space to relax but always have someone nearby if you need a top-up.
The Bonny Inn manages to blend quality dining with down-to-earth hospitality. Whether you're stopping by for a quick bite, celebrating something special, or just passing through Blackburn, it's a place that makes you want to linger just a little longer.

Great views over the Pendle Valley from this restaurant. Staff are friendly and happy to chat although it was quiet. Good menu - starter were fantastic but the fish pie was a little too dry for me as I prefer more sauce. Sadly no room for dessert. Would come again but I do prefer the sister restaurant for ambience and surroundings.
Exceptional pub and food. Came here today from Preston. First time and won’t be the last. The Sunday roast beef was excellent! Every item of food, which was plentiful, was delicious. The staff so nice and friendly. I can’t recommend the Bonny Inn enough. Thanks for superb service
